Be Jolly

Hello my friends and welcome to my blog.  I did this layout for CSI Color Stories Inspiration Case # 219.

This is how I solved the case:

The Scheme:  I used all 5 colors
The Evidence:  Holiday stuff, snowflakes, burlap, tag, tree
The Testimony:  Be Jolly - On the tag (which is located above the top photo) it says:  "Several weeks before Christmas our youngest son Chris, Pawpaw and I take his kids Kenzie and Colby to Canton to chop down a Christmas Tree.  This year there was an old car which had a tree on top and the kids got to ride in it.  How fun! There was a red old tractor that they got to climb on by a corn field.  Before we left they sat down so we could take a picture.  This trip was so much fun for everyone."
The Sketch:  Also used

Please see my close-ups.

Since we had to use three photos I decided to make this layout rather simple.  I added a stencil and modeling paste, added burlap, and snowflakes.

On the sketch we were suppose to use a tag on the left side but I decided to used the three sentences which represents the tag.  The Herald Angels Sing, Wishes For A Wonderful Christmas, The Magic Of Christmas.  I also used Tim Holtz flower die cut and leaves.

This is the title "Be Jolly".  I have had this for a couple of years and I thought it would be perfect for this layout.

I used Tim Holtz Christmas Tree die cut.  I added stickles to it as well.

Thank you for taking the time to look!  I really enjoyed working on this layout.

Happy New Year everyone!!

Magic

Hello my friends!  This is my take on CSI Color Stories Inspiration Case #220.

This is how I solved the Case:

The Scheme:  I used all 5 colors
The Evidence:  Heart, Flowers, Leaves, Tag, and Snowflakes
The Testimony:  Sweet - On the tag it says:
"Santa and Mrs. Claus come every year to see my sweet grandchildren.  They sing, read "Twas The Night Before Christmas" and leave each child a small gift.  A sweet surprise.  Love this!!

Here are my close-ups!

I used micro beads ( gold and blue) around the flowers, a heart tag, and snowflakes.

Snowflakes with little pearls in the center, a cute reindeer, and a snowflake button on the tag.

I used red and green embossing on the word Sweet.  I also used around the photo Red sparkly corrugated cardstock as well as black.

I cut out the bells and holly and used pop up dots to adhere them.  This was a fun case to solve and I hope you enjoyed seeing it too.

Thanks for looking and I wish you and your family a wonderful Holiday Season!

Merry Christmas!

Magic

I did this layout for the Words and More Challenge.  I love their challenges.  Anyway, this is a tradition that my family do each Christmas.  A few weeks before Christmas, Santa arrives and the grandchildren are so surprised and full of wonder.  Mrs. Claus comes to and they each get to sit in Santa's lap and he gives them a sweet present.  Santa also reads them Twas The Night Before Christmas.  Afterwards they all sing Christmas song.  Then Santa and Mrs. Claus tells each child bye and to be very good!

Our December challenge is to use, or be inspired by the word "TRADITIONS"
and the creative challenge is to use something handmade on your creation.

Here is the layout!

This is Santa and my grandson Colby.    I used three different corrugated cardstock.  I had several different leaves that I cut out.  The handmade is the tag with I cut out then added paper on the top and then typed ...
"A tradition in our family this time of the year is Santa and Mrs. Claus show up at our home to make a surprise visit to our grandchildren.  The look on the sweet faces are priceless.  He also brings his live reindeers which are in our front yard.  Santa also brings a small gift for each child.  It is such a Magical time and I love it!  Merry Christmas!"

Please see the close-ups!

Here you can see that I sprinkled white gesso to make it look like snow.  I added little bit of red paint to the leaf on the right.

You can see the tag that I made.  I also made the poinsettia.

I used red ink on the word Magic and then used embossing on top to give it a shimmer effect.

Thank you for looking and I wish you and your family a Very Merry Christmas!

JOY - December tag

I created this tag for the Design Team at The Crafty Scrapper for the 12 tags of Christmas.
It was so much fun to create.

I call this JOY because it looks so radiant and lovely and full of JOY!
I used Tim Holtz Thinlits and Greenery Die Cuts.  I also added pearls and crystals to the tree and the holly.  I had on hand the word Joy.  I also used white cardstock to the bottom and added a cute white ribbon to the top.

Please see the close-ups!

I am also submitting this tag for Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016.

Thank you for looking and enjoy your day!

Special

This was such a fun and personal layout for me.  At More Than Words the subject was "Special" which to me is my grandmother.  Her name is Louise and she is 104 years old.  She still lives by herself and she can even drive.

As you can see I am so happy and very lucky to still have my grandmother with me.  She had one child, my mother, and she passed away last year.  I am also a grandmother to 4 and another on the way.  That will make her a great, great, grandmother.

I used various blue papers, a new die cut by Tim Holtz, and something borrowed (the pen which I wrote Love on the heart).  I also used something old which is very valuable to me.  It is the silver pin which my mother gave to me many years ago.  Isn't it lovely!

November 2016 Main Challenge
SPECIAL & OUR QUOTE

Oh, how time flies!  It's November already, almost a year since More Than Words made its debut. This time last year we, the Admin team, were excitedly brainstorming this new concept and working together day in and day out to shape it into reality!  We are thrilled about it all turned out and are so happy to see your entries
inspired by our challenges each month.
And speaking of challenges, here is a brand new one for November :
Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.
The challenge is open to layouts, canvases and art journal pages only.
Word Inspiration - SPECIAL
Creative Challenge - OUR QUOTE
What does the word SPECIAL inspire you to create? You can chose to use the word somewhere on your project or simply be inspired by it. Please explain in your blog post how the word inspired you, if not already obvious.
Even though we were inspired by weddings for our creative challenge, you do not have to create a wedding-themed project. The instructions are simple - we want you to follow OUR QUOTE as inspiration and use something OLD, something NEW, something BORROWED or something BLUE on your project.
For example, you can decide to use a brand new paper collection (NEW) or add blue paint on your background (BLUE). You can use some of those old antique buttons you've got stored away (OLD) or use a tool that you have borrowed from a friend (BORROWED). Please let us know which ones you've used. You can even challenge yourself and use all four! We will also accept projects that display the quote itself.  Easy, right?
VERY IMPORTANT! You have to incorporate both requirements of the challenge - the word inspiration AND the creative challenge - on your project to be eligible to win. Just look at our desisgners' creations and descriptions as example. Also, remember that you must include our board image and a link to our blog in your entry post.

The Scheme:  I used all 5 colors
The Evidence:   I used woodgrain background, Heat embossing, Metal, Leaves
The Testimony:  Homecoming - Written on the tag it says:  Homecoming Texas is spectacular!  The kids wear big MUMS!!  They also wear matching outfits during school.  Then the BIG game where they choose Homecoming King  & Queen.  Later is the school dance.  Nothing like TEXAS!

Here is my layout.

This took me several days to complete but it was so worth it.

Please see the close-ups!

Here you can see I used modeling paste and stencil then colored it with Gelatos.  I used Gesso on the flower and painted it and then added micro beads.

I also added micro beads to the green leaves and Diamond Stickles to the butterfly.

Here you can see the metal keys and what the tag says.

Explore

I did this sweet layout of my grandson Colby.  He is such a delight and always so curious about things.  This challenge at Scrap Africa was perfect for this photo!

Scrap Africa

You can create a card, tag, layout, an altered project, journal pages or even a digital project!
You can create whatever you like! ;-)

We would just love to know what inspired you from the sketch and the sentiment behind your project!;-)

Here is my layout!

I just loved working on this.  I used so many techniques and the color blue and yellow was perfect.

Please see the close-ups!

You can see the beads and other objects that I used plus string, embossing, and die cuts.

I used water color around the photo plus a stencil.  On the frame I used paste to give it a rusty look.

I wanted circles around the photo using blue and yellow.  I really love this.

Thank you for looking and please have a great day!

Gather

Well here it is ... November.  Where has the year gone?!  The older I get the faster time flies.  Anyway, here is my tag for Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2016.

I think this one is so sweet and looks Fall.  I did not have all the items that Tim Holtz used but this is perfect for me.

Please see the close-ups!

I used watercolor on this leaf and added Prills.  I also used two different stamps.

This large leaf was on part of a paper that I have had forever!  I inked around the edges and added Prills.  I stamped the butterfly and added watercolors.  The small butterfly I punched it out and then used watercolors.    The ribbon which you can see on the main photo I inked it with two different distress inks.

Thank you for looking and enjoy your day.

Change

I really love this challenge this month.  We had to used different shades of our favorite color.  So, I have this photo of my mother and decided to use it.  It is a black and white photo but I used watercolor to change her dress to a pale lavender.

October 2016 Main Challenge
CHANGE & OMBRE

Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.
The challenge is open to layouts, canvases and art journal pages only.
Word Inspiration - CHANGE
Creative Challenge - OMBRE
Use the word CHANGE as inspiration for your project.  You can choose to add the word somewhere on your project or simply be inspired to create from it.  Please explain in your blog post how the word inspired you, if not already obvious.
For our creative challenge, we want to see an OMBRE or shaded effect on your project.  Ombre is the gradual blending of one colour hue to another, usually moving tints and shades from light to dark.  Take a look at our DT work for some very shady ideas!

Here is my layout for this challenge!

I love purple which I used a purple cardstock and then paper which has various colors of purple.  However, I then used modeling paste and stencil and when it was very dry I used a purple watercolor.  After it dried I added purple Gelato.    I also painted the leaves and circle frame purple.
The quote says: "One day spent with someone you love can Change everything!"
This photo is my Mother.  She passed away July 4, 2015.  I had never seen this photo of her before but her Mother showed it to me which I made a copy of it.  Yes, her Mother is 104 years old and she is so excited when I use photos of my Mom.  She is very missed.

Please see the close-ups!

Please join along with this challenge.  I find it very exciting and I get to really use my imagination.

Thank you for looking and have a wonderful day.
